Jane ShoenfeldI am inundated by signs, impressions, lighted screens, and print. I live in the confines of a geometric structure. Though a grid of multiple perceptions and edges that dissolve, I show my world. In 2006, I began working the GridScape format. NorWay Returns is late in the series, and the grid has relaxed. My medium of choice is pastel and pastel combined with other media. I often wash off pastel, add pumice and gels and then more pastel, to create tactility and visible layering. Sometimes I emphasize the void, the dark spaces that are, perhaps the unconscious – the blessed and sometimes frightening unknown. Recently I let go of geometric borders in favor of more organic form, but the dark edge is still there.
